Phindy's Place Friday - Get Well Cards

Good morning everyone and Happy Friday!  Normally I would be excited that it's Friday, but since it means that the end of my vacation is here I can't help but be a little less so today.  It's been a nice, relaxing vacation spent with my kids though, so a girl can't really complain.  Of course, try me again on Monday when I actually go back to work, then you may hear some complaining.

Of course, I'm always excited to be starting an new challenge over at the Phindy's Place challenge blog.  This week our challenge is to make a Get Well Card.  This is the time of year that Get Well cards are usually needed since we are all closed up with each other and so many icky germs!  For my project this week I used the Phindy's Place image, Bedtime Story.

The materials I used on this card are my copic markers, crystal stickles, prima flowers, pearls, Spellbinder's dies, Big Shot, MS large border punch, MS Corner flourish punch, SU sentiment stamp from Cheery Chat set.

Here's a close up of my colored image.

I hope to see you stop by the challenge blog and enter this week's challenge.  You'll find it worth your while to see the cards that the other members of the DT have made.
Thanks so much for stopping by today,

Meljen's Designs Thursday

Good morning everyone!  Can you believe that today is the last Thursday in February. The year has just begun and yet it seems to be flying on by.  I guess that has always been the way but as you get older the years just seem to go by faster and faster.  Don't ask me how that happens, but it sure feel like it does to me.

Today at Meljen's Designs we are starting a new challenge.  Our challenge for this week is Buttons.  Use a button anywhere on your project and then stop on by the challenge blog and link it up   But, don't forget to use a Meljen's Designs image somewhere on your project.  For my project this week I used Melissa's image Raggy Puppy.

Here's a close up of my colored image.

The materials I used to make my card are copic markers, buttons, crystal stickles, glossy effects, MS Frond punch, Fiskars flower punches, ribbon, Spellbinder's dies and my Big Shot.  The copic markers I used are YG25, YG23, YG21, YG0000, BG 05, BG01, BG000, BG0000.

I'm entering this card in the challenge at the Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge blog.

Tiddly Inks - Wryn Blooms

Good morning everyone!  Today I am posting a card using one of the new Wryn images from Tiddly Inks, Wryn Blooms.  I am trying to post on my laptop while my youngest sits here and watches one of his favorite movies, Cars 2, for the zillionth time.  It would be much easier to type this post if he wasn't sliding back and forth on the couch with all of his might every 5 minutes.  Little boys do have a lot of energy.  I thought my daughter was active as a child, he beats her hands down when it comes to energy level.  I wish I had just an ounce of the energy that he has.

The materials I used to make this card are copic markers, glossy effects, Fiskars flower punch, Spellbinder's border die, pearls, Spellbinder's oval dies and Recollections border tape and glitter embellishments.

Here's a close up of my colored image.

Here are the new Wryn images that Christy released today.

Wryn - Watcha Doin'?

AND

Wryn - Birthday Girl

If you're as delighted with these new Wryn's as I am then click HERE to see them in the Tiddly Inks store.  And don't forget, we still have our BLING challenge going on this week.  Why not stop on over to the challenge blog and join in?

Magnolia - Giggling Tilda

Hello everyone!  If you are in the United States I hope you are lucky enough to have the day off for President's Day!  The kids and I ran out to an appointment this morning but now were are vegging at home!  Funny thing is my little isn't taking a nap but my daughter, the teenager, is off in her bedroom fast asleep.  I guess going to the dentist was just too much for her this morning!

Today I am posting a card using the Magnolia image Giggling Tilda and the kitchen bench stamp, also from Magnolia.   For this card I used the stamp masking technique to make her look like she is sitting on the bench.  If you have never done this before you can go into the tutorial section of my blog and download a tutorial on this technique.

The materials I used to make this card are copic markers, B95, B93, B91, E27, E25, E23, E35, E33, E53, and the Colorless Blender.  I also used the Spellbinder's dies, Shapeabilities Foliage, Nestabilities Labels 1 and Nestabilities Labels 3 .  For my embellishements I used flowers, which I colored with my copic airbrush and Gathered Twigs distress ink, MS large border punch, MS Butterfly Punch and pearls.

Here's a close up so you can see my colored image a little better.

I'm going to enter this card into the challenge over at the Magnolialicious challenge blog, their challenge this time is to use blue and brown.
Thanks so much for stopping by today,

Mo's Digital Pencil - Fairy Tabia

Well, it's Sunday afternoon and my second post for the day.  This one won't be as long, or emotional, as the last, but I'm glad you stopped by to check out my project.  This afternoon's project is one I made using The Mo's Digital Pencil image, Fairy Tabia.  This fairy is one of my newer images from Mo's and I think she is just gorgeous.

I actually had this image colored to enter last week challenge over at Mo's Digital pencil but I never got around to putting a card together.  So, when the new challenge started I was already halfway there!  For my card I've also used the sketch from this week's Sketch Saturday challenge and I will be entering my card there as well.

I used my airbrush to color most of my flowers and then accented them with my SU Night of Navy stamp pad.  I wanted a different color of blue flower than I had so I made them.  The other materials I used for my project are copic markers, Glossy Effects, floral embellishments, SU sentiment stamp, SU border punch, Spellbinder's dies, Big Shot and Diamond Stickles.

The copic markers I used are B39, B37, B34, B32, E25, E13, E11, E21.

Here's a close up of my colored image.

The two challenges that I em entering this project in are:

If this is your second time here today, thanks so much for stopping by again.  I love hearing what you think of my projects and would appreciate any comments you may have!
Thanks so much,

My Daughter's Eyes

Good morning!  We are having a nice sunny morning here and have opened our curtains so we can enjoy all this beautiful sun!  Of course, I would like to look at a nicer color than brown, but since we haven't gotten any snow to talk of this year I will have to wait until spring when the plants grow back.  Then it will be truly beautiful just outside my window.

Today I am posting a card that uses an image I drew myself.  I have been practicing and today's image was drawn from a picture of my daughter and myself from 2002.  Yes, I know that is a long time ago but it is one of my favorite pictures of the two of us and I had the idea of using the image to make my daughter's birthday card for this year.  I named this image, My Daughter's Eyes.  There are a few reasons for this.  The first and most simple reason is that my daughter and I both have blue eyes, although hers are the most beautiful shade of blue that I have ever seen.  Crystal clear and just plain gorgeous, seriously!  Plus, she has blond eyelashes and eyebrows and pale skin.  A china doll complexion that many would just love to have.  I don't normally post pictures of my children, I like to keep them in a place where I think they are the most safe.  BUT, since this picture is basically 10 years old and she is much older now I thought I would show you the original image, and then my drawing of the image.

Here's the original image, taken by my husband, who was then just my boyfriend.

AND, here's my uncolored drawing.  It is rough, and I know I still have more to practice, but you are welcome to the image if you like.  Just click on the image and then right click and save it to your own files.  I only ask that if you do use my image you give the credit to me as the artist.

For my project today I made a card and a mini-card so I could enter my card into the challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches.  It is my first time entering this challenge and this week's sketch is a fairly clean and simple card.  So if you are looking for my normal amount of embellishments, you aren't going to find them.  Besides, a second part of this week's challenge is only using one embellishment, GULP.  Yes, that was pretty hard, but I did it!

So, finally, here is my card using this image.

I of course colored my image using my copic markers.  The other materials I used were my Spellbinder's dies, Big Shot, Glossy Effects, ribbon, and SU sentiment  stamp.  I also used the SU stamp pad Vintage Violet to enhance the edges of my circles just a bit.  My one embellishment is a charm that says, "made with love".  Since this is my daughter's birthday card, I felt this was the perfect embellishment.  I imagine the little card being used as a book mark since my daughter is an avid reader.

Here's a close up of my colored image.

Now, I told you that there were a few reasons why I named my stamp, My daughter's Eyes.  The second is this, in 2004 I married my husband, my daughter's stepfather.  We wanted to include her in the wedding and instead of having a father/daughter dance or mother/son dance I had a special dance with my daughter.  The song we danced to is called "in My daughter's eyes" by Martina McBride.  It was so perfect for us and almost tells our story as mother and daughter.  Needless to say that when we had our dance there wasn't a women at the wedding whose eyes were dry, including my daughter and myself.  This picture of us reminds me of this song, which has since become our song.  Below is a picture from my wedding of this dance.

This is probably one of the longest posts I've ever written.  I hope my daughter enjoys this card, she is going to be 15 in just a few weeks, DOUBLE GULP.  But don't you worry, she knows that no matter how big she gets, or what happens in her life, she will always be my little girl!
Thanks so much for stopping by today,

Meljen's Designs - A Girl and her Kitty

Good morning and Happy Saturday to all of you!  Although I am feeling a little under the weather this Saturday I am excited!  School just got out for winter break and I am hoping for a week to catch up, enjoy my family and craft, craft, craft!  We only have a few appointments and then I hope to stay home and relax with the kids! Now, with a 3 year and a 14 year old I'm not sure how much relaxing I'll be doing, but a girl sure can try!

Today I am posting a project using the Meljen's Designs image, A Girl and her Kitty.  I am such a fan of kitty images as I have always had a cat, in fact we currently are living with three of them right now.  The hubby isn't as fond of the hair they leave but I enjoy having them in the house and the kids do too!

I used some new tools, or "toys" as I like to call them, for this project!  I of course used my copic markers to color my image.  I also used a new lace border punch from SU and a SU Bravo Burgundy stamp pad.  It's hard t believe this color was one of the first stamp pads I ever purchased from SU many, many years ago.  I used a new Spellbinder's Foliage die, my Big Shot, SU Whimsical Words sentiment stamp, a Spellbinder's label die (I never remember what number they are), MS Rose Leaf punch, flowers and pearls.

Here's a close up of my colored image.

Of course we have a challenge currently going on at the Meljen's Designs challenge blog.  This week's challenge is Anything Goes.  Just use a Meljen's Designs image and you can enter any style project you want this week!  Looking for some inspiration, well the Dt have created some for you.  Be sure to stop by and see their fabulous creations!
