Phindy's Place Challenge - Entry #2

Good morning and welcome back! This week for Phindy's challenge I wanted to be sure to enter more than one card. The challenge is for such a good cause, Operation Write Home, that I thought it was important to send more than one. The card I am entering today is using one of her new winter cuties. They are so adorable that I can't wait to get them all!

The image is called called delivery man and can be found here at the Phindy's Place site. I colored him using copic markers. I wanted to use non-traditional colors while at the same time making a holiday card. The buttons on his jacket are colored using a gold gel pen. The background is shaded using Night of Navy stamp pad from Stampin Up and a Tim Holtz blending tool. I shaded the bottom by masking off that part of the image to keep it white to make it look like snow. The top is sprayed with Tsukinko Shimmer spray to make it look like it is snowing lightly. The bottom has a white shaded perfect pearl medium mixed with water and then painted on the paper. I wanted to give the snow a shimmering effect. I did run into one problem while doing this. OWH doesn't want you to send anything that has glitter that comes off so you don't endanger the soldiers. Well, the pearl luster kept coming off onto my hands. To keep this from happening I painted a thin layer of Mod Podge onto my snow. It gave the snow some texture and dried clear so you can still see the shimmer I wanted. Also, the perfect pearl doesn't come off anymore so I can send the card to OWH!

This is image is just so adorable I couldn't resist using it. What child wouldn't want to sneak a cookie, whether told to or not? I'm sure that will be my son soon enough!
Thanks so much for stopping by today,
