Meljen's Designs - Fru Fru Fairy Flora

Good morning everyone!  It's finally Wednesday and I have to tell ya I feel like this week has been going on and on and on already.  It seems like more than a week has gone by since Monday instead of only a few days.  I don't know if it's the weather, end of school year craziness, or what, but I am completely exhausted and ready for the weekend.  Thank goodness we are at least halfway through the week or I may just have to go crazy!

Today I am posting a project using the Meljen's Designs image, FruFru Fairy Flora.  It's my turn to post at the Meljen's Designs blog today so you can find this post by clicking HERE.  I made a journal using this image.  One of my favorite things about making journals is being able to use recycled materials.  For this project I used a recycled cereal box, one of my daughter's favorite cereals actually.  Below is a picture of the various materials I used to put this journal together.

To cover this cardboard I use a foam brush and an acid free glue that I can spread.  To  keep the air bubbles out I use wax paper and rub over the top to make it smooth.  Once it has dried the covers are nice and stiff, just like a store bought journal.  Then I bind it all together using my Cinch, which I just LOVE!  I had my husband get me the version two for Christmas and I am so glad that I did because, at least in my case, I find that it works a little better than the original Cinch.  The inside papers are water color paper because I find this paper nice and stiff.  This is good for making mixed media projects inside the journal.

Here's what my project looked like when completely finished, embellishments and all.

AND, here's what the colored image looks like close up.
