Saturated Canary - A Bookmark

Good morning everyone!  It is already a gloriously sunny day here but it is going to be a hot one so our plans are to stay inside and stay cool!  Not too terrible as we have spent the ENTIRE weekend outside and had an absolutely lovely time just being at home and being together!  One more "snow" day off for me and then I am back to work, for 3 days.  Rough, a whole three days, I know but it must be done.  Besides, there are only 4 weeks of school left to go and then summer can truly begin.  This weekend was a nice beginning though and hopefully we will have more fun to come.

Today I am posting a project I made for the current challenge over at Saturated Canary!  This time around there challenge is bookmarks and I made mine using one of Krista's new images, New Baby.  As soon as I saw this image on my friend Lou's blog I knew I had to have it!  It is just so perfect for all of us mother's out there, especially new mothers.  The expression on the mother's face just captures the pureness of a mother's love that we see every time a new baby is born.  I know I had it, and still do for both of my children, and for my step-son, even though I didn't to see him as a new baby.  I made this bookmark to send in a card I am going to make for a dear friend who recently told me she is pregnant.  Sadly, we are so busy we don't see each other much anymore but I am so excited by her news and wish her the best.  I figured she could use this bookmark to hold her place in all the new mom and baby books she'll be reading.

Seriously, isn't this just the sweetest image?!  It's just so precious and moving, it really is.  I'm not sure I like the fringe so much at the top of my bookmark, what a terrible time I had adding that, but I do think the beads compliment it nicely.

Materials I User for this Project:
Copic Markers - Y08, Y04, Y00, Y0000, RV23, RV10, RV00, RV0000, (hair)E59, E27, E25, E34, (skin) E13, E11, E01, E000
Magnolia Doohickey swirl die
Watercolor paper
Baby Feet stamp
Hero Arts sentiment stamp
SU baby feet roll stamp
Clear Shimmer embossing powder
Watercolors
Beads
Spellbinder's Nestabilities Classic Oval Punch
Spellbinder's Nestabilities Classic Scalloped Oval Punch
Crystal Stickles

I wanted my background paper to be a heavy paper and a soft color at the same time.  I embossed my paper with a clear shimmer embossing powder using a baby feet stamp.  Then I added a watercolor wash using a very light yellow and pink colors.  It's mostly covered up right now but it did come out very nicely.

Here's a close up of my colored image.

Well, that's it for now!  I really enjoyed making this one and thought the soft yellow and pink colors were just perfect baby colors.
So glad you decided to stop by today,
