I Brake For Stamps - Teacher Shy Bear

Have you thanked a teacher today?  That's my thought for my second post this morning as my card is created using a teacher image from the I Brake For Stamps store.  I am a teacher and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE what I do.  I don't need any rewards or extra praise as I go to work every day and by my own choice.  I love being in my classroom with my students and watching their eyes light up when they realize that they have mastered a concept or task, sometimes after months of working hard at this accomplishment.  That is all I need to get through my day.  BUT, like everyone else a little thanks goes a long way.  A smile, a nod or a simple thanks goes a long way to brightening someones day, even a teacher.  I try to thank my children's teachers every chance I get.

That's what today's card is for, a simple thank you to all of those teachers out there who choose to go to work every day to care and educate the kids in their classrooms.  The best teachers create bonds with their students that will last year beyond their time in a classroom together.  I used a Shy Bear image from the I Brake For Stamps store, Teacher Shy Bear.  My card is also a CAS card, especially compared to what I usually create.  Sometimes clean and simple can go a long way.

Tiddly Inks Tuesday - Book or Movie Character

LAUGHTER is timeless.  IMAGINATION has no age.  And, DREAMS are forever.  Walt Disney.

How true Walt Disney was in his interpretation of these parts of ourselves.  There is always a reason to laugh, no matter how old you are, how long time progresses or where we are in the world.  Laughter is simply laughter and sometimes the best medicine a girl could ask for.

Imagination is boundless and ageless.  From the stick drawing you create as a child to the well thought out card you make as an adult.  Imagination can be found in play, in reading, writing, art.  It can be found in the clothes we wear, the music we listen to and quite frankly, the world we live in.  Where would we be without imagination.  Would I typing on this computer?  Would I have been able to create the card I am about to share with you.  Creativity has much origination in our imagination.

And Dreams, we often forget we have them once we become adults, get a full time job and begin to raise a family.  We put many of our dreams on the back burner and often forget they are there.  But again, Walt Disney is correct, dreams never leave us, they simply fade into the background until we are ready to retrieve them again or until we simply make new ones.

Why all this talk of laughter, imagination and dreams.  Well, there are a few reasons to share these thoughts.  First, as crafters and artists these are words to live by.  Thoughts that can help inspire our simplest desire and our most beautiful creation.  Also, at Tiddly Inks this week our challenge is to create a project inspired by a book or a movie character.  Books and movies can be such powerful influences on our life.  It all depends upon us.  Also, I chose a book that was made into a Disney movie for my project today so why not begin with a quote from Walt Disney.

The project I created today uses the Tiddly Inks stamp, Kiss me, and is inspired by the Disney movie the Princess and the Frog.

The Sweet Stop Sketch #208

Here we are at Saturday again.  Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday have all passed by and Saturday is here again.  What's so great about Saturday, well besides the new sketch from The Sweet Stop.  Saturday means no alarm clock, not that I wake up with mine anyway, I am almost always up earlier.  It also means more time to spend with the family, crafting time, taking a breath time and simply spending time around this place I call home.  Of course, by Saturday our home has become just a little bit of a disaster after a week of work, appointments and running with the kids.  Some weekends I take care of that and others, well I try really hard to pretend I don't see it.  That strategy works for my kids, why shouldn't it work for me?  Now that the warm weather is slowly approaching Saturday also means spending time outside and getting my gardens ready for flowers and veggies.  Just a few more weeks and the warmer weather should be here to stay, fingers crossed.

The best part of my Saturday is sharing our new sketch and my project using that sketch with all of you.  This week is Sketch #208 and is just as fabulous as the rest of them!  What is the sketch?  Well, look below and see.

The image I used for this week's project is from the Sweet and Sassy store and is a digital image called, Birds and Roses.  Just perfect for this time of year.

Materials Used:
Copic Markers
Spellbinder's Classic Circle and Scalloped Circle dies
Wild Orchid Roses
EK Success Punch
Pearls

Just before I colored this image I was lucky enough to see a blue bird outside of my window.  I was so excited because although blue birds live in our area we don't see them very often.  Seeing this beautiful bird inspired my coloring for the birds in this image.

Of course the other Sugar Babies have created projects for this sketch as well and they are just AMAZING!  I hope you can take the time to stop by and check all of them out.

Tiddly Inks Fabulous Friday

Good morning everyone, T-G-I-F!  It's been another busy week for me and the weekend is a little crazy as well.  The good news is that our craziness is my daughter's confirmation this and I am happy and proud to be part of this craziness.  Another milestone for her and another day of mixed emotions for me.  Happiness over her crossing yet another threshold, sadness over losing my little girl.

Today I am sharing with you a Fabulous Friday project for Tiddly Inks.  The image I used on my card today is one of Christy's newer images, Hey There Cupcake.  She is a great image and I was excited to have a chance to use her!

Penny Johnson - Floating Down the River

Hi everyone!  It's Thursday and the work week is almost over!  This weekend we have a little excitement as my daughter is making her confirmation.  I can't believe we have reached this point in her life and I am excited to watch her cross yet another major threshold toward adulthood.  I am NOT ready for it, not even a little bit!  I want my strawberry blonde, pig tailed little girl back.  I want my cuddles and mom knows everything little girl back.  I know that is not going to happen, and she certainly doesn't think I know everything anymore, apparently that is now her job, LOL!  BUT, at least I can enjoy these milestones as they come.

Today I am sharing with you a project I made using the Penny Johnson stamp, Floating Down the River.  The cuties on this stamp look like they are having such a relaxing day and boy, I could use one of those right about now!  Unfortunately, I can't fit into an umbrella no matter how hard I try!

Materials Used:
Crystal Stickles
Wild Orchid Flowers
Spellbinder's dies

Well, that's it for me today.  I'm off to get ready for work, take my girl to the dentist and then rehearsal for her confirmation.  Then I think I may collapse!!!!

I Brake For Stamps - Tulip

Can you feel it, spring is in the air!  I can see signs of it everywhere.  The grass is getting greener, the buds are starting to open up on the trees and the daffodils are brightening up gardens all around.  And yes, it is getting warmer.  And sometimes we even see the sun, really.  Every now and then the clouds part and the sun shines, yeah us!  Sooo, I thought it would be a great time to share a card using the digital image, Tulip, from I Brake For Stamps.  Just a few more weeks and we will see some gorgeous tulips as well, a sure sign that spring has arrived.

Materials Used:
Copic Markers

The Sweet Stop Sketch # 207

Hi all!  Here we are and it's Saturday again!  This month has been so hectic and each week keeps flying by!  Our days are busy, our weekends are busy and our evenings are busy.  I'm exhausted just typing this!  Kudos to all of you who are on the go all of the time!  I wish I had your energy.  Hubby and I are big babies and are usually in bed between 8:00 and 8:30.  Really.  We're lucky we can make it until then.

Today we have a new sketch for you at The Sweet Stop.  This week we have Sketch #207.  It's also a sketch with a spin and the spin is Happy Birthday.  Let's start with our sketch for this week.

Today I used a Bestie image by Sherri Baldy.  I was just recently turned onto these stamps and think they are just adorable!  Here is my take on this week's sketch.

I Brake For Stamps - Shy Bear

Hi, again!  Today is the marathon day of blog posts!  Pretty good for someone who is currently at work hanging out with 20 kindergartners.  Thank goodness for pre-posting and scheduling.  I don't know I would have done it otherwise!

This time I am sharing a card with you using the I Brake For Stamp image, Daisy Pot Shy Bear.  This is the first Shy Bear image I have ever colored but it sure is an adorable image.  Look for more of these cute bears in the future.  It also gives me a good opportunity to practice coloring fur with my copic markers.  Fur can be such a difficult thing to get right when you are coloring.

Materials Used:
Copic Markers
Glossy Accents
MS Frond Punch
Spellbinder's dies

That's it for me today, I promise!  I'll give you time to process today's posts and be back later in the week!  Enjoy your week, hopefully with some warmer weather!

MarkerPop Tip & Tricks - How to Color Folds

Hi everyone, I'm back again for the second post of the day.  Today is going to be a busy today here at the blog as I'm not done yet.  After you read this post be sure to come back later this morning for a post using and I Brake For Stamps image!  But, for now, onto my MarkerPop post for today.

Today I have a tip for you on how to color folds.  I love coloring folds.  I think they are so satisfying as you immediately see the results of shading and coloring those darks and lights so close to one another.  I know folds can be hard for us sometimes, so I have a few pictures to show you how I do it.  I always start with the dark part of the fold and work my way out from there.  I lay down a light layer of color first and then I go back over a second time to blend those colors they way I like.  Sometimes my markers are stubborn and I may have to use a few of my colors a third time, but that's when you have to be careful that you work lightly so your marker doesn't bleed to other parts of your image.  I always color a small part of my image at a time as I find it easier to blend the colors this way.  Today I am using the Saturated Canary Rubber Stamp Nevaeh as I think her skirt has the most fabulous folds to color.  The copic marker colors I used on her skirt are R59, R46, R43, RV21.

Here is what she looked like when I was completely finished coloring the image.

I played around a little with my colors on this one and combined some colors and shades I may not have tried in the past.  You can see this better when you look at my project below.

Other Materials Used:
Glossy Accents
Diamond Stickles
Wild Orchid Flowers
MS Frond Punch
Spellbinder's dies
EK Success large border punch
Glitter Border Embellishment

Well, that's it for me today.  I think I am going to soak up the sun a little today, I believe it is supposed to be gone by tomorrow!
Huge Hugs,

Tiddly Inks Tuesday - 1,2,3 - One Stamp, Two Embellishments, Three Papers

It's Tuesday and you know what that means, we have a new challenge for you over at Tiddly Inks!  This time around we have a 1,2,3 challenge.  We want you to use one stamp, two embellishments and three papers.  Now, I don't know about you but I like to use two different types of embellishments, not two embellishments only.  Sooooo, that's what i did today, I used two different embellishments.

For my project this week I used the Tiddly Inks image, Mystria.  Whenever I go to create a new project for Tiddly Inks I am always overwhelmed with the number of images I want to play around with.  Mystria was the clear winner this week.

I played around with some unfamiliar techniques this week.  I used the dotting technique for around my image and FINALLY used a flower leaf punch for some of my embellishing.

Materials Used:
Copic Markers: Dress: YR24, Y38, Y35, Y32, YR30, Hair: E59, E29, E39, Skin: E11, YR01, E01, E000
Spellbinder's dies
SU Flower Petal Punch
Wild Orchid Flowers
MS Large Border Punch
Pearls

Now it's your turn!  Create your 1,2,3 project using your favorite Tiddly Inks image and then link it up to our challenge blog!  Need a little more inspiration, the rest of the Tiddly Inks DT has fabulous projects to inspire you.  You can find them at the challenge blog as well!

The Sweet Stop Sketch #206

It's raining, again.  Really.  Clouds, drizzle, down pours, dampness, these are not words we want to talk about when spring has arrived.  The words I am looking for are sun, warmth, breeze, all those things that make you feel alive after being cooped up inside for most of the winter.  Mother Nature has other plans and I just think she needs to get with the program.  Have you ever seen how children are affected by the weather.  It changes them and makes them antsy.  Can you blame them, at this point all they want to do is get outside and run!  Twenty kindergartners, inside again for recess, on a Friday.  You can imagine how hard it was to accomplish our tasks for the day.  We did manage though and now we get the weekend to unwind before we start all over again on Monday.

Today we have a brand new sketch for you at The Sweet Stop.  This week we are working on Sketch #206, so many amazing sketches have come and gone.  I hope you have had some time to play along with some of their wonderfulness.  On today's project I am using the Sweet Pea Stamps image, Spring Nocturne. I was first turned onto this image when I first saw my friend Alyce create a project with it.  Alyce is an amazing crafter and her coloring is out of this world.  If you have the time you should stop by her BLOG, you'll be glad that you did.

Here's today's sketch to play along with.

AND, here's the card I made using today's sketch.

Materials Used:
Copic Markers
Wild Orchid Flowers
Spellbinder's dies
Glossy Accents
Pearls
MS Rose Leaf Punch
MS Flower Border Punch

I really fell in love with this stamp the moment I saw it.  Alyce's project did such a great job of selling this image as well.  I plan to return back to this shop in the future.

Now it's time for you to play along.  Don't forget to stop by the challenge blog to get your inspiration from the amazing projects created for you by the rest of the Sugar Babies.

T - G - I - F!  Why, oh why is the week after you return from a vacation always the longest and the most exhausting?  It's as if the universe is punishing you for taking a break from it all.  Geesh!  Let me tell you, this weekend will be much appreciated and I am going to get as much crafting done as I possibly can!

Today I have a card for you using the Tiddly Inks image, Wryn - Pick Up Sticks!  This is a Wryn that makes me think of summer, camping and fun.  We used to camp often when I was a kid and I just loved it.  Campfires, smores and family, what else could you need?  Maybe a marshmallow or two!  It was a simpler time for sure and I have fond memories of it all!

I Brake For Stamps - Feline Femme

Well, it's finally happened.  Spring has arrived.  I know I have been talking a lot about the weather lately but it's that time of year when you are just sick of the cold, dreary weather and are desperate for a little warmth and sun.  And, of course, that sunnier, warmer weather just never seems to get here.  And then, one day, it happens and you breath a sigh of relief and take as much time as you can soaking up the sun!  That's where I am today.  Of course, did the warmer weather stop by during our spring break, nope!  We get to enjoy this beautiful weather from the inside of a school building while we are all busy learning and working.  Beggars can't be choosers I suppose.  I will take this warmer weather any way I can get it.

Today I am sharing with you a project using an I Brake For Stamps rubber stamp, Feline Femme.  This is the large Feline Femme and the second Femme image I have used from I Brake For stamps.  I am definitely falling in love with these images.  They color up so nicely and really look amazing when they are finished.  They really make a project pop and I feel like my whole card is brought alive by it.
