The Sweet Stop Sketch #217

Good morning and Happy Saturday my crafty friends!  My week has been appointments, trying to catch up around the house and spending time with the kids.  My little guy has been wanting to go in our pool every day, so that is what we have done and I've loved watching him get more comfortable and adventuresome.  He has always been a little afraid of the larger pool, but now he is realizing that the life jacket really will keep his head above water.  It probably doesn't hurt that he can stand on the bottom on his tippy toes either. He has grown a lot this year.  Those aha moments are always a little sad because it means that he is slowly getting older and won't need us as much anymore.  Thanks goodness we have a ways to go before we are completely obsolete.

Today at The Sweet Stop we have a new sketch for you and we are now onto Sketch #217.  It's a good one, as always, and I hope you'll be inspired to play along.  Let's start off with a look at this week's sketch.

Here's the card I made using the sketch.  I used a Besties image by Sherry Baldy for my card.  I recently discovered these images and I love them.  I adore images with large eyes and these fit the bill.

Materials Used on My Project:
Copic Markers
Glossy Accents
Wild Orchid Flowers
Black Adhesive Rhinestones
Cheery Lynn Small Flourish die
Spellbinder's dies
SU Bashful Blue Ink Pad
Fired Brick Distress Ink Pad

A great sketch, don't you think?  If you're not quite inspired yet then you can stop by the blog to see the projects made by the rest of the Sugar Babies.  I hope you have the time to do so, you'll be glad that you did.

Boitatou

Good morning everyone!  I have such an exciting announcement today, I have been asked to be part of the design team for an exciting product, The Boitatou.  The Boitatou are custom boxes created for those cards and projects full of embellishments, specifically flowers that crush easily.  They are easy to put together and I enjoyed creating my first project with these great boxes.

For my first project I created a wedding card/box set as our theme for the month of June is Weddings.  The card that I made is an easel card so it can easily stand up inside the Boitatou if the recipient likes.  The image on my card is the Saturated Canary image, Fancy, and the marriage sentiment I found on Pinterest and retyped to fit my project.

Here's a picture of the Boitatou and my card side by side.

This is what the card would like if you had it standing as an easel card while inside the Boitatou.

And this is the Boitaou all on it's own.

Materials Used:
Copic Markers
Boitatou
Wild Orchid Flowers
Black Cat Cougar cutter
Pearls
Stickles
Glossy Accents
SU Sentiment Stamp

If you'd like to see more Boitatou, or what you can create with this product, then click HERE to visit the Boitatou Blog.

I Brake For Stamps - Fleur Femme

Hello everyone!  We are having a wonderful but Hot, Hot, Hot Tuesday.  The weather here is just sweltering and the air conditioning is just the place to be.  Not really what I want to be doing at the beginning of summer vacation, some time outside or in the pool would be nice, but better then winter weather for sure!  Luckily I have plenty of things to do around the house, now if I only had the energy to do them.  The downside of hot, muggy weather is lack of ambition and energy.  Who wants to move when it is this hot.  I HAVE been happily working on my projects and today I have a card to share with you using the I Brake For Stamps image, Fleur Femme.

When I first started working with the Femme images I just thought I would give them a try, something different than my usual images.  I have come to really love them, I know I tell you that every time I post a Femme project, but they really make a great card.  Sometimes breaking out of your normal routine can leave you pleasantly surprised.

Materials Used:
Copic Markers
Cheery Lynn die
Wild Orchid Flowers
EK Success Punch

Well, that's it for me today!  I'm off to get cool, maybe jump in the pool.  I'm not sure about that one, we just put the pool up this weekend, it is one of those easy set up pools, and the water is still pretty cold.  And when I say cold, I mean cold!!!!!!!
Thanks so much for dropping by,

The Sweet Stop Sketch #216

Good morning friends, Happy Saturday!  It is a beautiful day here and I can officially try and unwind, maybe even catch up on some things around the house.  Things have begun to get a little out of control on the half finished projects and it is high time I take care of as many as I can.  Not sure how many I will get through this summer, but I am sure going to try.

Today we have a new sketch for you at The Sweet Stop.  It is our 216th and of course I just love it, I hope you will too!  My card for this week uses the Elisabeth Bell digital image, Toot, Toot.  I made this card for my grandfather for Father's Day.  I am slowly improving when making my male cards BUT I still enjoy my bling AND my flowers for those female cards much more.

Here is the sketch for this week.

And here is my card for the sketch.

Materials Used:
Copic Markers
Button Twine

Not to many embellishments for this one, I need to figure out some fun embellishments for my male cards.  Another job for me to take on this summer.  At the rate I am going I might relax more when I return to school!

The other Sugar Babies have such beautiful cards to share with you.  I hope you can take a moment to stop by the blog to check them out!

Tiddly Inks - Fabulous Inky Friday

Well, I made it, today is the last day of school.  It was touch and go there for awhile, I never thought I was going to get all of my paperwork done or finish cleaning up my classroom.  But I have and now summer vacation can officially begin!  As exciting as it is to be on vacation the end of the school year is always bittersweet.  After a year of watching my little guys grow I then have to send them on to another grade and another teacher.  I'm always proud and excited with all of the progress the kids make, how they grow and what changes occur in a year.  But, all the same, I miss them when the school year ends and summer begins.

Speaking of summer today I made a card for my nephew.  His summer is beginning as well.  He has just graduated from eighth grade and is now officially a high schooler.  Last night I attended his moving up ceremony and it was very nice, every kid received a certificate and a pin.  I wanted to mark this occasion with a little something so I made my nephew a card and gave him a "candy bouquet", a Pinterest find of course.  I wasn't there when he opened it but my sister was happy with his "score" of candy.  His younger sister wanted some but, that just wasn't happening!

For the card I made for my nephew I used the image, Geekatude.  I thought this was a great image for the occasion, since it wasn't a high school graduation but was school related.  The red hair is because my nephew is a red head.

Materials Used:
Copic Markers
MS Border Punch
SU Sentiment Stamp
Spellbinder's dies

Well, that's it for me.  I'm off to finally take a breath now that the school year is over.  Of course I've already brought a pile of things home to get ready for next school year.  I just have to find a place to keep them until my mind is ready to even think about next year.

Don't forget the rest of the Tiddly Inks Design Team have projects for you to check out as well.  Just stop by the challenge blog to see the fabulous projects they have created.

MarkerPop - Seaside Dreamin'

Hello everyone!  I am counting down the days until summer vacation begins, although I am waaaaaaay behind on all the paperwork and cleaning of my classroom that I need to do.  At the moment I am beginning to feel like I may never leave.  It is our responsibility to have everything cleaned up and tucked away for the summer, that way our classrooms can be cleaned properly to begin again in September.  I know, too soon to think about beginning again but it's how the world works!

Today I am sharing with you a card I make using the Whimsy image, Little Jack and Bobbin, Seaside Dreamin'.  This stamp came from MarkerPop and can be found HERE

It is my turn this week to share "Tips and Tricks" and my tip for the week is about which shades to use first when coloring with copic markers, lights or darks.  For me laying down the lighter colors first and then the darker works much better.  This is because I tend to lay down a lot, and I mean a lot, of color.  I often layer my color until I get the tone and blending that I want.  Since I color this way I tend to drag the darker colors into the lighter colors when coloring with them first.  By coloring with my lighter colors first this is less likely to happen and my colors stay just where I want then to be.  Of course, this isn't the perfect solution but it is what works for me.  Please remember though, you may be someone who doesn't lay down a lot of color and it may work for you to lay the darker colors first.  My philosophy when coloring is try out all the different techniques and then let the one that works for you become your habit.

Here's how I colored my image.  Lighter colors first.

Then the darker ones.  You don't know how many times I dragged a red or a blue onto my whites or grays,  too many to count.  That's when I decided to start coloring this way.

And then my final project.

The Sweet Stop Sketch - #215 - Sketch With a Spin

Well, the countdown has begun.  One week before we are officially on summer vacation.  My daughter has started her summer vacation already as she finished her last final yesterday.  Lucky her, I have so much to do in that one week and I just don't think I am going to make it.  Then it is catching up on things around the house, you know those things you just can't ever get to during the work week.  Well, weekends haven't been working out so great for us either so my plan for summer break is dealing with our home.  And you know, by the time I catch up around here summer will be over and it will be time to go to work again.  Hmmm, I think I need to make sure to take out some time to just hang out with the family and maybe, just maybe, take a deep breath every once in awhile.

Today at The Sweet Stop we have a new sketch for you.  This week is Sketch #215 and it is also a sketch with a spin.  What's the spin, well It's a Girl Thing, of course.  So, follow our sketch using your most girly mojo and then link it up to our blog to enter the challenge.

Father's Day

Father's Day is this Sunday and I am slowly finishing up with the cards I need for all the Father's/Grandfathers in my life.  Two cards down, two to go, I'm halfway there.  I'm sure I'll have them all done by Sunday,  I just hope I don't finish my last one Saturday night at midnight.  You know how these things go, but as long as I have one for all of these special men, then life is good.

Today's card is my husband's Father's Day card.  He's a great father, I mean really wonderful.  So good in fact that our son thinks it is my husband's job to play with him.  They really do have a lot of fun together and I love to watch them when they are playing.  One thing both of my guys enjoy is tractors, John Deere tractors to be precise.  Hubby has been a fan FOREVER, and my little guy was predestined to become a fan as well.  SOOOOO, when hubby saw the Power Wheels John Deere tractor he just knew it had to get it for our little guy.  Now they both ride around the farm on their John Deere tractors just as happy and content as can be.  Which brings me to my project for today, my card uses the La-La Land image, Luka on Tractor.

Materials Used:
Pearls

Not a lot of embellishments for this one.  That's what happens with the male cards.  I wish they would let you add a flower or two and some bling, but no, that will never happen!

I Brake For Stamps - Honey Bees Shy Bears

Hi all, it's me again, back for post number two.  We are still watching home videos, this time for the Christmas that almost wasn't since my little guy decided to make his arrival on Christmas morning, unexpected of course.  My daughter is in this one with us, the poor thing had her Christmas ruined that year by the unexpected arrival of her little brother.  She loved that her brother was born, but she very accurately pointed out that Christmas would never be the same again.

Now onto a totally unrelated Christmas topic, Honey Bee Shy Bear.  The Shy Bear stamps are oh so adorable and this image is no exception.  I also have come to find a new appreciation for honey bees and love the fact that honey bees are smart enough to sting a bear in the nose since he is too furry anywhere else. Who knew that something so little had such a great brain!?

Materials Used:
Copic Markers
Wild Orchid Flowers
Glossy accents
Cheery Lynn small flourish die
Stardust Stickles
SU Sentiment Stamps

Well, this is my last post for today.  More to come tomorrow but so long for now!  I hope you enjoy the rest of your day!

Tiddly Inks Tuesday - Summer Sun

Hellooooooo everyone!  I'm sitting here desperately trying to write this post but a we are watching home video of my little guy when he was an infant in the NICU, and I can't seem to tear myself away.  He's four now, and an active four year old at that, so infancy seems sooooo long ago.  We were lucky that he was only in the NICU for a matter of days, but I forget how tiny he was.  Like many parents I think time passes too quickly and I'm worried about his childhood passing before my eyes and I'm afraid I'm going to miss it.  I love that we have video of such a precious and amazing time in all of our lives!

Okay, so now onto Tiddly Inks challenge for the week.  This week our challenge is Summer Sun!  Now, this challenge makes me yearn for the warmth and the sun since we are stuck with clouds and rain, again!  I colored the Going Swimming Boy for today's challenge and I always think of my little guy when I color boy images.  It's hard not to, ya know!  How can I not use the two loves of my life, my kids, to inspire me?

Materials Used:
Copic Markers
Glossy Accents
Cheery Lynn Bubble Border
Spellbinder's dies
Bella's Baubles
Stardust Stickles

Well, now it's your turn to play along don't forget to use your favorite Tiddly Inks image when you do!  I hope you can take some time to check out the projects by the rest of the Tiddly Inks DT!  You'll be so glad that you did!

The Sweet Stop Sketch #214

Good morning everyone on this glorious Saturday morning!  What makes it glorious, well, it's Saturday, of course.  On tap for me today is grocery shopping, celebrating my little sister's (by 15 months) birthday and then hopefully a little cleaning around the house.  With three cats and hair shedding season a girl's vacuuming is never done!  I'm hoping the weather clears up soon as we are going to be outside for the birthday celebration and it has been raining for the last day and a half.  We need the rain for our plants to grow of course, but a little sun while you are sitting outside would be nice.  Warmer weather as well, yesterday our high was only in the 60's.  This back and forth between cold and extreme warmth has just got to go!

Today we have a new sketch for you at The Sweet Stop.  Our sketch this week is #214 and of course it's just fabulous!  Take a look below and you'll see what I mean!

Great, right?  Now here's my take on this week's sketch.  The image on my card this week is the Some Odd Girl image, Dressy Kaylee.

Materials Used:
Copic Markers
MS Border Punch
MS Frond Punch
Wild Orchid Flowers
Black Rhinestones
Glossy Accents

Well, that's it for me today!  I hope you can play along with our fabulous sketch.
