Fight Like a Girl

Today I am sharing with you a card I recently made for my grandmother.  She has been battling so much since the spring and she recently just spent another few days in the hospital.  I wanted to make her a special card and a freebie that I downloaded from the Saturated Canary Facebook page seemed like just the perfect one for the card.  The image is called Ribbons and her sentiment is "Fight Like a Girl".

Now, I don't know about you but I think girls can be pretty tough when they want to be, at least the girls that I know.  I thought this would convey the message I wanted to send and what I have always felt about my grandmother.  She is one tough cookie and I wanted her to know that.

Materials Used:
Copic Markers
Fiskars Flower Punch
MS Double Border Punch
MS Frond Punch
Tea Dye Distress Ink
Glossy Accents

I am happy with the way the coloring of this image came out, probably because there isn't any hair.  I have been taking classes at Kit and Clowder and have seen an improvement in my coloring but I just struggle with hair.  Well, practice makes perfect and that is what I plan on doing.  Hopefully I will get down the technique she teaches because it is just awesome.  I have really learned a lot about lighting and find myself looking at the different types of lighting at various places in the community.

Well, one more official day of Summer vacation and then it is back to school and work.  Fall will be here and we will be in the swing of things before you know it!
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!
Thanks so much for dropping by,

Practice

So, for the first time in a very long time I found myself creating without an affiliation with a design team.  This is strange as I have enjoyed every team that I have ever been a part of, but I am beginning to see the current benefit of my situation.  I have felt that my projects and my coloring have been stagnant for a very long time and so I have come to the decision it is time to practice and work on my projects so I can improve, or simply change, to a point that I am again comfortable with what I create.  To this end I have begun by taking copic coloring classes with Alyce and Kit and Clowder and I am so happy that I took this step.  I am taking the Skin and Hair class and she is so informative and good at teaching you how to improve on your coloring.  I do believe the best part is the feedback.  Today I am going to share with you two images I colored, one after taking 3 of her classes and the second after doing nothing else but listening to her feedback on the classes.  They are the same image because I wanted to see for myself if there was improvement, or not.  I'll let you decide what you think as well.  If you are visiting and reading this I would LOVE for your feedback as well.  My personal goal is to improve and continue to enjoy this craft as much as I always have, if not more.

Here is the coloring after the classes but before her feedback.  The image I used is a Tiddly Inks image, On Top of the World.

This is the coloring after the same three classes AND Alyce's feedback.

To be a little fair the paper I colored on is different as well, but I still think I see improvement in the coloring.  The hair is the biggest struggle for me, always has been.  I hope to keep practicing and moving forward.  We shall see.
Thanks so much for joining me on this new journey into my crafting I have begun!
Enjoy your Thursday!

Tiddly Inks Tuesday - Anything Goes

Hi everyone, since it's Tuesday that means that we have a new challenge for you over at Tiddly Inks.  This week our challenge is Anything Goes, so you can use one of Christy's wonderful images to create a project to enter.  This week is a sad one for me as it is my last challenge as a member of the Tiddly Inks DT.  It is time to let some new faces inspire you each week and you'll be excited to see all the new members and their fabulous talent.  It has been along run for me on the Tiddly Inks team and I will miss all the supportive people I have met along the way.  Don't worry though, Tiddly Inks are still some of my favorite images so you will see projects on my blog from time to time with many of Christy's cuties.

As for my project this week I used the Tiddly Inks image, Willow the Fairy, Exceptional Teacher.  I love to make Back to School projects for my teacher friends and family and so I used this new fairy for a tissue box that could be put on a desk.  I've seen these done so many time and have always wanted to give making one a try and so today here it is!  I hope to make several more but with only two weeks left until the opening of school, you just never know.  I am currently knee deep in classroom preparation and beginning of the year plans!

Materials Used:
Copic Markers
Spellbinder's Oval dies
Spellbinder's Scalloped Circle die
Fiskars Flower Punches

Well, this is my last time saying goodbye for a Tiddly Inks challenge.  I hope you can pop on by the blog to see the last projects by several other of the DT members and new projects for those coming in for the first time.  All are just amazing and I'm sure you'll truly be inspired by what you see.
Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday!

Tiddly Inks Fabulous Friday

Hi everyone, TGIF!  I am off today to get school clothes for my kids.  I can't believe this is the only year I will be buying school clothes for both of them, my little guy is a kindergartner and my daughter is a senior!  Where does the time go.  We have a family tradition of spending the day with my mom, sister and her kids to shop for clothes and other back to school items.  The benefit is that my kids get some money spent on them by Nana and mom gets to save some money as well.  But it is an exhausting day, five kids between the ages of 17 and 4, all with different tastes and styles, means a lot of stores and walking!

My Tiddly Inks card for today isn't a back to school card but it is a card for August.  My father-in-law's birthday is at the end of the month and this card is for him.  The image I used is Birthday Boy and I tried to color him up to look a tad like my son, who is his youngest grandchild.

Materials Used:
Copic Markers
Spellbinder's dies
MS Border Punch
SU sentiment stamp

I hope you are enjoying your Friday, or at least glad that it is closer to the weekend.  The rest of the members of the Tiddly Inks DT have great projects to share with you so I hope you can take a moment to stop by the challenge blog and check them out!
Have a great weekend!

Tiddly Inks Tuesday - Let's Hear it For the Boys!

Good morning everyone, Happy Tuesday!  Today at Tiddly Inks we have a new challenge to share with you and this one is Hear it For the Boys.  This time around we are looking for your boy themed projects.  I know many of us have a difficult time with male cards, especially since we usually have to limit our bling, but Christy has so many amazing images, how could we go wrong.  Don't forget to use one of her images when you create a card for our challenge.

This time around I used the image, Geekatude.  I've always loved this image, I think it's cuteness gives a positive spin to the word, "geek".

Materials Used:
Copic Markers
Spellbinder's die
SU Scalloped Circle Punch
SU Tag Punch
CM Circle Punch

Now it's your turn to play along.  But before you do don't forget to stop by the challenge blog to get really inspired by the fabulous projects created by the rest of the Tiddly Inks Design Team.  Those ladies really know how inspire the most fabulous creations!
Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday!

Tiddly Inks Friday and a New Release

Hi everyone, how are you doing on this first Friday in August.  I wouldn't mind it being August so much, and knowing that the summer is just whizzing by, if it felt more like summer.  I think I have worn more jeans and pants this year than shorts.  It would be just my luck that summer will show up in September when I return to school with 22 brand new kindergartners and no air conditioning.  Anxiety is always high as school begins anyway, but add a little heat to this girls aging body and I am sure to be downright cranky!

Today is NOT a cranky day for me though, no way!  Today it is a double dose of wonderful as the members of the Tiddly Inks design team are sharing their projects with you and Christy is releasing some gorgeous new images that you are sure to LOVE!  Our release today is fairies and I HAVE truly fallen in LOVE with them.  I have two fairy cards that I am sharing with you today and if you would like to see more then click HERE to visit the Tiddly Inks shop.

My other project for today is my Fab. Friday project and I am using Christy's image, Shine Bright Flapper Couple for this one.  I used one of my newer Memory Box dies that I hadn't used yet and it fit perfectly as it is a staff of music notes.  I think it added to the card nicely.

So, first my Fab. Friday card.

And now my projects using today's new release fairies.

Well, I'm off to work to get my classroom ready for a few weeks of summer school and then the fall.  Please be sure to stop by the challenge blog to see all the wonderful projects by the rest of the Tiddly Inks design team and Christy's blog to see the rest of the projects created with more of Christy's new images!
Have a truly fabulous Friday!
